Chef Gregg Korney
was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his culinary career at a local Italian restaurant and has consistently strived to incorporate an inventiveness and exuberance in his cuisine. His ensuing career has taken Chef Gregg to some of the working kitchens of renowned country clubs and five star hotels in Jacksonville and Pointe Vedra, Florida. Working in the kitchens of prestigious chefs including Chef Kevin Graham and Chef Jamie Shannon, has inspired his culinary versatility to create imaginative dishes. Gregg was drawn back to Cleveland were he brought his new series of exciting, wonderful-tasting foods to Giovanni’s Ristorante, the new opening of Sushi Rock and the Vue. During his career, Gregg received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Jacksonville University, which helped strengthen his overall knowledge and professionalism in the restaurant world. His competitive nature earned him a position as a team member in the Hotel Culinary Cup Competition. His culinary expertise and imagination were also acknowledged by The James Beard Foundation, where he participated in the Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani. His skills go beyond the quest for creating fine cuisine and also include his artistic ability to design and sculpture ice carvings. Chef Gregg eventually went on to open his very own restaurant in Lakewood named Velocity. In 2007, he opened Quince, where he currently resides as Executive Chef, continuing to envision new possibilities with his wide array of culinary skills and expertise.
